Musique + Equilibre

United Instruments of Lucilin and the Valentiny Foundation invite you to discover their new project “Musique Plus”. On this day, it's all about music + balance.

What if music became the bridge between body and mind, a way to find balance? Concerts—including one featuring two violins, another bringing together the shō and accordion, and a third dedicated to John Cage—offer a sonic experience of balance.

Programme Musique + Equilibre:

11:00 Body & Mind (Introduction)

Perhaps there is no other form of art that challenges both the body and the mind at the same time? The composer translates their idea into a score, a set of numbers, values, and instructions that the musician attempts to understand and transform into a physical interpretation, which should make us forget all the intermediate stages of transcription.

11:30 Over the Rainbow (Concert)

Over the Rainbow is a ballad in the company of the two bows of Winnie Cheng and André Pons-Valdès, violinists of the Lucilin ensemble. A sonic journey, a stroll around timbre, where one is guided by the sometimes dreamy, sometimes dynamic compositions of Isang Yun, Gavin Bryars, Marc Mellits and Giacinto Scelsi:

Marc Mellits, Black (2008)
Giacinto Scelsi, Arc-en-Ciel (1973)
Isang Yun, Sonatina (1983)
Gavin Bryars, The last days (1992)

15:00 Shō au coeur (Concert // World Premiere)
Shō player Naomi Sato joins United Instruments of Lucilin as a special guest. A free-reed instrument, the shō blends perfectly with the accordion, played in this concert by Anthony Millet. With works ranging from compositions inspired by the Far Eastern philosophy of John Cage and Geli Li, to the gentleness of Johannes Schöllhorn, and the raw nature of Animus by Luca Francesconi, this program explores the many states of the human soul – from the mild to wild:

John Cage, One9 (1991)
Geli Li, Création mondiale
Luca Francesconi, Animus (1995)
Johannes Schöllhorn, Madria (1994)

16:30 Espace Intérieur (meditative experience)

A concert dedicated to John Cage, a major figure in contemporary music, inspired by Zen philosophy and Eastern thought. Through his art, Cage invites us to evacuate all sentimentality and empty ourselves.

John Cage, Two4 (1991)
John Cage, Two5 (1991)

Musique Plus is, above all, a celebration of creativity and the intersection of artistic worlds, offering an immersive and enriching experience for all the senses.
