Lucilin in the City #7 – Piano Fantôme

With Lucilin in the City, each month Lucilin presents a programme curated by one of the members of the ensemble, highlighting the musical personalities who make up Lucilin and, more generally, the breadth and diversity of the contemporary music repertoire. For this autumn’s concert, violinist André Pons-Valdès has devised a programme for string quartet and clarinet, based on the great works of the classical piano repertoire, reworked by contemporary composers… and without a piano! In her words:
“In this musical manor, floats the ghost of a piano, ‘the piano’, on which Frederic Chopin, Alexandre Scriabine and Johannes Brahms let their fingers glide, sculpting the arabesques of the soul. Today’s composers (Gérard Pesson, Filippo Zapponi, Diana Soh, John Cage, Asia Ahmetjanova) bring this absent piano to life with other timbres, the caress of the strings and the breath of the clarinet. A journey through time, a rebirth“.
