Arturo Fuentes, Musique des êtres imaginaires
After the premiere on April 13th at Philharmonie Luxembourg, Arturo Fuentes‘ concert-fiction Musiques des êtres imaginaires will be performed once more at Wien Konzerthaus on June 14th during the festival Bridges. Commissioned by Lucilin, this project is based on the book « Manual de zoología fantástica » written by Jorge Luis Borges, which describes 120 mystical creatures from folklore, literature and mythologies. On stage, Fuentes’ music, performed by Lucilin’s musicians, is joined by the sounds of mechanic automata, distorted voices and electronic sounds, thus reflecting Borges’ deconstructed universe.
The musicians are placed into several “isles” that seem to have fallen apart, and look like some dark abandoned house with broken mirrors, each of them occupied by noisy mechanisms and animals. Solos, duos, trios or pieces with all the musicians are performed in these microcosms, exchanging sound messages together…
