Musique + Festival
Closing event of Musiques + 2026
To close the 2026 edition of Musique Plus, United Instruments of Lucilin invites you to a full day dedicated to discovery.
This mini-festival will bring together a vibrant array of new collaborations at the Valentiny Foundation, offering a rich journey filled with encounters, surprises and moments of conviviality.
11:00 – Route du Son: A Musical, Choreographic and Oenological Journey
This guided walk invites the audience to discover three artistic propositions that each, in their own way, weave together music, movement, listening and perception through a rich sensory experience full of discoveries.
1. Symbiotische Resonanzen und Parasitengeräusche
New work by Catherine Kontz and Elisabeth Schilling
Born from a close collaboration between composer Catherine Kontz and choreographer Elisabeth Schilling, Symbiotische Resonanzen und Parasitengeräusche emerged from a shared interest in movement, the musicality of the body, and sonic textures. In this co-creation, music and movement are not conceived as separate disciplines but as languages in constant dialogue, mutually nourishing and transforming one another.
Together, the two artists explore how relationships are formed, negotiated and evolve within a group. Inspired by ecological and social systems, the work stages dynamics of interdependence, resonance and collective emergence, where roles, decisions and trajectories gradually take shape through interaction between individuals.
With: André Pons-Valdès (violin), Sophie Deshayes (flute), and Galdric Subirana (percussion)
2. Radiografía de la arena
New work by Ivan Boumans (commissioned by the Ministry of Culture)
With Radiografía de la arena (Radiography of Sand), Ivan Boumans offers a sonic and philosophical exploration of sand—an omnipresent yet often overlooked element. Found in deserts, beaches, oceans and architecture, sand reveals an unexpected richness of textures, colours and forms when observed closely.
With: Danielle Hennicot (viola), Olivier Sliepen (saxophone), and Guy Frisch (percussion)
3. Musique de dégustation // at Domaine Sunnen-Hoffmann
New work by Núria Bonet
This creation is inspired by three wines from Domaine Sunnen-Hoffmann: Crémant, Rivaner and Pinotin. Through a sensory experience combining music and wine tasting, the work also reflects on Luxembourg’s heritage, culture and climate.
The flavours, aromas and distinctive characteristics of each wine become the material for a musical journey celebrating the identity and landscapes of Luxembourg.
Performers: Désirée Bonacci (cello), Max Mausen (clarinet), and Anthony Millet (accordion)
14:00 – Music and AI: Thinking Outside the Box (in English)
Between promises and concerns, artificial intelligence is profoundly transforming the way music is created, often in the name of speed, convenience and efficiency. But does this evolution come at the expense of creativity, musical practice and artistic craftsmanship?
In this discussion, Cédric Kayser and Luc Nijs explore the positive, negative and more problematic aspects of artificial intelligence in music, examining both the challenges it raises and the opportunities it offers, while reflecting on ways to think beyond conventional approaches.
14:45 – Carte Blanche to the Centre Henri Pousseur, a Centre for Mixed Music Creation at the Heart of Europe
For several months, United Instruments of Lucilin and the Centre Henri Pousseur have been joining forces to develop collaborative projects that highlight the innovation and creative richness of Belgium and Luxembourg. This carte blanche reflects our shared commitment to growth and to supporting and promoting contemporary musical creation.
The programme features members of the Centre Henri Pousseur team presenting a selection of works for solo instrument and electronics. Highlights include Lëtz SEW, a new work by the young Franco-Luxembourgish composer Héloïse Bégin, which weaves together two sonic worlds: the rhythmic gesture of writing and the melodic impulse of imagination; Trace VI by Martín Matalon, built around the idea of multiplicity; and Lettre Soufie: Z3 (Dhâl) by Belgian composer Jean-Luc Fafchamps, inspired by the Sufi symbolism associated with the letters of the Arabic alphabet, creating a sonic universe in perpetual transformation.
With: Danielle Hennicot (viola), Sophie Deshayes (flute), Daniel Serafini (trombone) & Patrick Delges (sound engineer – Centre Henri Pousseur)
16:00 – Graviton
GRAVITON is a collective sound installation developed by the Contemporary Music Workshop of the Conservatoire of the City of Luxembourg in collaboration with architect Nico Steinmetz. Driven by gravity, it generates unpredictable sonic sequences through the movement and collision of objects within an open system where instrument, sculpture and machine converge.
A collective creation by the Atelier Contemporain of the Conservatoire of the City of Luxembourg, in collaboration with architect Nico Steinmetz. Realisation: STDM Architecture Office and artistic metalworker Nico Betzen.
With: Kim Poliakov, Alex Lallemang, Natalia Kovalzon, Guy Frisch, Jonathan Hadji Minaglou et Lio Theisen
16:30 – A Practice of Listening
Following last year’s success, trombonist Daniel Serafini and Lucilin invite you to a lecture-concert dedicated to Deep Listening. Through an exploration of Pauline Oliveros and other key figures of the movement, the evening will uncover new ways of listening that combine attention, meditation and collective creativity. The audience will be invited to take an active part in an immersive sonic experience, culminating in a collaborative performance at the Valentiny Foundation.
